The Grand Lodge of Newfoundland & Labrador was consecrated on November 1st 1997, and is the most recent Grand Lodge formed in Canada, which was comprised of 32 founding Lodges.

Although our Grand Lodge is relatively new, Freemasonry in Newfoundland & Labrador can be traced back to 1746, when Henry Price of The Grand Lodge of Massachusetts sanctioned a Lodge "somewhere in the colony of Newfoundland".

Our present Grand Lodge is comprised of five districts, with thirty Lodges. In 2007 a new University Lodge was formed. This lodge consists of many young brethren from Memorial University of Newfoundland & Labrador and is the first Lodge of this type within our region.

In the fall of 2010 a new Lodge will be consecrated

Newfoundland & Labrador is unique in that it hosts two jurisdictions of Freemasonry consisting of:

A District Grand Lodge of Newfoundland & Labrador, Grand Lodge of Scotland with close fraternal ties to the

Grand Lodge of Newfoundland & Labrador.
